Skin Tag


Overview

Skin tags are noncancerous small bumps of tissue that hang off the skin by a connecting stalk. They are usually found on the chest, neck, back, armpits, or groin area. Skin tags appear mostly in elderly people, specifically elderly women. Skin tags are harmless and generally don’t cause any pain but living with skin tags is more of an annoyance. Depending on where they are located, they tend to get stuck on clothing, jewelry, and zippers.

Causes of skin tags

It is not clear exactly what causes skin tags, but it may be caused by clusters of collagen and blood vessels getting trapped inside thicker pieces of skin in high friction areas.

Skin tag removal
